Good old GV coming through like a trooper from his own kitchen. Short episode but fun to see what’s in the fridge and what he’s drinking at home. Shocking to find out that in two days he’d only drunk less than half a bottle, and if this is what he is drinking at home why spit it out? Puzzling

QOTD: Elk Creek Estate Cabernet Franc 2006, not bad 85 pointer to me..at 34.95 its a pass on the value scale though, but hey it was complimentary for linking them up with mista Gary Vaynerchuk (networking is grrreat.) Also have some The Stump Jump 2006, its an Ausie blend of mourvedre, shiraz, and cab sav. 89 Points and at 11.98 it’s THUNDER from down Under!
Cool Epp, like the “personal-ness” of bringing it to the kitchen.
    GolfTurtle OUT.

  • I’d love to see if there’s a little spike in Sierra Nevada sales over the weekend, heh.

QOD: Erdinger Dunkel Weissbier, because I had enough wine last night (not to mention a little more of my dad’s Andrew Murray Hillside Reserve syrah–not bad) and I’m busy packing up a few bottles to share with the rest of the family over the weekend. A little Bdx, a little sangio, a little grignolino in case there’s pizza.

still teetotaling for about 2 more weeks, but a Yixing teapot with vintage ?Saiqing Mao Cha? pu-erh tea is on my counter. GV, you like olives? Serious terroir? Come to the dark side, this stuff always gets me. It’s like the Hermitage blanc of tea.

  • QOTD – I’m drinking a Crozes Hermitage by Emmanuel Darnaud. I know next to nothing about Rhone wines so I decided to grab the first thing that stuck out. Very interesting wine.

Hey Gary! Really like the short every once in while. We all know how busy you keep yourself and that you take the time at all is awesome. Saw the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in the fridge, highly recommend checking out he brewery in Chico if you have extra time next time you hit Cali, it is most definitely LEGIT! QOTD: 2005 Stama Napa Valley Merlot, 90 ponts in my book!

While it’s an empty bottle now, I had a chardonnay from Sanford Winery opened up today. Today was a pop ‘n pour. I’m going to try it again tomorrow with a new bottle after it has been open for a few hours and see how that goes.

I just opened a bottle of 2003 Elements Riesling, produced by Adora Estate Winery in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada.
Last year, around this time, I had the opportunity to move to Canada’s greatest wine region. I took the chance, solely based on the food and wine factor, and I have not been disappointed in the least. The Okanagan Valley is beginning to make some quality wine – the climate allows for a variety of varietals, as well as various styles of production [from big (fruity and earthy), still reds, to sparking whites and roses, not to mention the dessert and icewines..] Wineries such as Mission Hill, Stag’s Hollow, and Cedar Creek are recieving many accolades and building a reputation on an international level.
I know I am biased and lean towards Okanagan wines. I live in the valley and feast on the many farmers markets and orchards. I am fortunate enough to swim in the lakes that irrigate the vineyards, breathe the same air and feel the same sun as vines. I am so lucky to experience terrior first-hand. It truly is the soul of the wine.

    Thanks for passion and enthusiasm…
    Give Canadian wines a chance!

QOTD: Marques Casa y Concha 2004 Merlot.

I personally am a fan of Latour Martillac… sadly my local distributor here in Panama stopped importing wine due to stupid local laws. Ive got 17 bottles of the 2000 vintage sleeping in my cellar, tried it around two years ago and it was amazing. Was gonna open one up for my birthday which was last week, but decided to wait till this saturday to share with some friends… so pretty much looking forward to that!

  • QOTD: After having moved three times, recently I discovered a 1998 bottle of a French Merlot I’ve had for a while that probably should have been consumed sometime in 2002, called Reserve Maison Nicolas. I am not actively drinking this, but did taste it. Maybe I just have a bad bottle, but aside from vague hints of petroleum products, I found it pretty one-dimensional, both in flavor & nose. Not big, not bold, not beautiful, kind of “un-Merlot”.

By the way I will be there to hear -and hopefully meet (?) you in Omaha and am looking forward to it.

Love that you still take time out to make a short clip for us. Cap’N Crunch is good but it always cuts the roof of my mouth a little and I kind of like it. Peanut Butter is my favorite..

QOTD: Taz Pinot Santa Barbara county. 85 points I say.

  • Thanks for the little apartment show, it was intimate and sweet of you to do. That sounds a bit flamey but I’m just passionate and felt you really went the extra mile, and I appreciate that.

Question for you: Once a bottle is opened, how do you keep it? Do you just put the cork back? Do you keep it in the fridge? Do you any “technological” stuff?
    Cheers

    (Sorry for my limited english)

PS: Great Show, we love it in France too
