Good old GV coming through like a trooper from his own kitchen. Short episode but fun to see what’s in the fridge and what he’s drinking at home. Shocking to find out that in two days he’d only drunk less than half a bottle, and if this is what he is drinking at home why spit it out? Puzzling

Do you EVER swallow wine??? I realize that you’ve probably got wine in your mouth more often than not during the course of a normal day (whatever that is) but come on – you’re at home!

QOTD – Les Brugueres 2006 (garnacha blanca, Priorat)

  • coth in MKE

QOTD: Domaine du Sac. AVA:Lake Wisconsin. It’s mostly Marechal Foch. Kind of sour and a bit much on the acid for me. Though it has a nose that reminds me of stinky southern french wine. Which I love.

    P.S. Gary…please sit down.

Nice short show! I pretty much like the alteration of longer and shorter, very focused episodes.
Wasn’t there any cheese in your fridge?

QOTD: Back in 1999 I did the harvest at Chateau Moulin de Blanchon (Haut-Medoc) and I am now starting to drink it: very very nice reward for the very hard work I have but in back then 🙂 !

So Gary will you be moving back to the burbs after Junior arrives? Great back splash in your kitchen. Looks pretty big for NYC.

Holy poop. that was some crazy cinematography… i’m a bit hung over this A.M. and almost heaved my breakfast on to my keyboard… but that’s my problem. Almost spit coffee all over the place as well… “i feel like an ogre” beyond funny…
QOTD: Smoking Loon 2007 Merlot (my fiances friend brought it by last night) not as bad as i assumed it would be but i opted for the bourbon ( George T. Stagg 2006 from Buffalo Trace) from my special spirits stash.

I am drinking 07 Alamos Malbec, just polished it off last night as well as a Layer Cake South Australia Shiraz 2006

  • Not sure if you heard this before or not (can’t imagine you haven’t). There is an old George Carlin routine which includes the line, “What wine goes with Captain Crunch? I have a hard time picking out a wine in the early morning.”

This episode made me think of that immediately.

QOTD: Cova Dels Vins Ombra 2006. Just opened it last night. Still trying to decide how I feel about it.

Cool short snippit you got there…something to cool off the day and chill watching your videos. Thank you for helping me look foward to something everyday when I get home after work!

QOTD: will likely open a 2004 Marques de Riscal’s Riserva and try. 2003 was good and good value. Apparently the 2004 vintage is better, but will judge that soon.
So to answer your question, what’s currently open are a bottle of Martell XO Superior and a Martell Cordon Bleu cognacs. Love both of them! The latter being aromatically more fun while the former is richer but slightly more focused in its flavor profile. Awesome stuff!

One question for you: how do you store/preseve your wines once you have popped the cork?

QOTD: Warburn Estate (Barossa) Premium Reserve Shiraz from our recent spring shipment from the 4Seasons Wine Club. Pretty good, but I liked the winter shipment shiraz (Burley Fox) better. It rocked!

Love your backsplash, hate stemless glasses, and now I will seriously worry about your cholesterol level!!

    Nice little home show!

  • Last night I opened an Ironstone Vineyard 2004 Cabernet Franc from California and will probably not finish it until tomorrow. ALC. 13.5% and I give it an 85-87 but I tend to rate on the low side but for a wine under $10.00 it’s great. Still looking for a reason to open a 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape though.

Love the one-on-one action with today’s episode.
Personally, I only do Capn’ Crunch out of the box (no milk) what’s your preference?

QoTD: Funny you should ask, at the moment just some chocolate milk, tryin to stay cheap and stick to group tastings and not shell out the moola on myself.

  • QOTD: Catarratto 2007 from Feudo Montoni – fresh lemony, mineral display. Stunning value and great as a luncheon wine, especially fish – check out the Grillo too from the same estate, surely one of Italy’s best values of 2009. Forget the effect of the credit-crunch, enjoy these great wines and save the dollars!
