line of the day – ‘ I would like to have pig snout and ears with this wine’

Love Gary in this episode; he rolled with the negative feedback of the ‘College humor’ episode beautifully. As he says, you have to try different things, some will work, some won’t. Glad to see that he isn’t going to dwell on it at all. Back to his incisive, funny, super ‘on point’ self. Picking the ‘Suxx’ wine a masterstroke.

Gary, I’m a lurker but had to come out to say that yesterday’s show did suxx. Today’s made up for it and I appreciate the effort you put in to WLTV.
I would like you to keep each show to under 20 mins, discuss good wines so that we learn something new, and talk about all the other stuff that makes the show so much fun.

love the show Gary, hope you keep doing the hotel room episodes and keep working on your chewi impression.

p.s hope to meet you in San Diego

Gary, I stumbled across THE THUNDER SHOW a few months ago on YouTube and now I?m hooked. I have had an appreciation for wine but you have helped me understand and articulate why I love it. Thank you for making the wine world less stuffy and bringing the thunder!!!

  • hey GV, you need to get involved in a wine camp and learn more about vineyard and wine making by expierence, I know that after that expierence you will feel much more things in wines, more oenological argument about wine…. It is not all about what your nose and mouth feels around flavors, you need to know for example when that acid you love comes from tartaric corrections or from natural good malic residues, or if the over addition of sulfites burned the potencial bouquet of the fruit… try take the bordeaux DNO, it´s time to get real men!

    Peace! from Spain………

Really enjoyed the show. I would never have selected any of the wines because of the names. Guess I am just a plain traditionalist. It is time to venture out though and try wines with some funky names.

  • Wicked good show in the hotel! Keep ’em coming. Any chance to do a Grappa tasting in the future would be something to see. Hey, it is made with grapes, the most potentent vino available. Rock On!

Hey Gary- Great show- never posted a comment before but felt compelled to tonight. I didn’t love yesterdays show, but today’s was great. Your personality and passion keep me coming back even if I don’t care about the wine itself. Keep it up!
    Here’s a question for you (I’m sure you’ve gotten it a bunch)
Does going from one wine to the next with out cleansing your pallet interfere w/ the nose/taste of the next wine? I know for me personally, I like to have as “neutral” of a pallet as possible before tasting the next wine, but you seem to be able to go from one to the next w/ out any problems at all. I know the bacon really changed your experience w/ each wine- do you ever think the previous wine has coated your mouth enough to change your experience w/ the current wine?

Nice concept for an episode- shopping in another store in another city and then reviewing wines based on what caught your attention. Nice.

In other news, YOU’RE IN LA!! I wish we could meet up, but I know you must be very busy with a very tight schedule. HOWEVER, if you have a free moment or are going to be out somewhere after dinner one night while you’re in town, pleeese shoot me an email. I wish you the best as always, and our paths will cross again, one way or another, soon.

    Great show Gary,

I think the problem with yesterdays episode is that the guys from College humour were trying to force the comedy. Its a shame, but you are spreading the word, and that is always good news.

Could you try and do an sparkling wine episode again, but try some English sparkling wine, maybe Ridgeview estate from Sussex. Its a great tipple, and has beaten many of the French champagnes in blind tastings. Worth a squirt.

    Good times

    Hey Gary,

You can’t hit a home run every time at bat.( Goofballs only play so long. I did get a few chuckles; but it was overdone, that’s all.)

I still think you should consider kicking it up a notch. With a little more history of the type of wine reviewed. Maps, videos of the vineyard, winemaker etc.

We know some of what you do is marketing. But we hope a lot of it has educational value too.

  • I completely agree with the fact that your palate does change. If you stubbornly hold on to your preconceived notions of what you like; you are missing out on some great wines. I do occelate at least once a year from old world style to new world and then back. I even occassionally get a hankering for over the top butterball Chardonnay that I would be embarassed to drink in public.

Yeah, great show! Can you do this more often, when you’re in another town, get wines from their stores and try them? I thought that was a great idea.

Let’s put yesterday behind us…I think you’ve gotten enough crap off it!

    Be careful traveling!

QOTD: Back to top form with this episode Gary….I love these hotel shows with just you and the basic flip cam – sorry Mott.

It sure makes me laugh the way you chat away for near on 20mins in a hotel room all by yourself – I would be too self conscious of the fact…but hey thats why I dont have a video blog and you do!

I like the idea of walking into a random liquor store and doing a show on some bottles you picked out. Your absolutely right by the way. Shopping for wine is not only fun, but it is extremely addicting. It is really hard to buy only one bottle and I can easily spend 2hrs looking for some bottles. The more educated you are about wine, I think, the more fun it is. Ciao.

    Gary:
I liked this episode! And truthfully, the College Humor episode wasn’t terrible, just a bit silly.
People rarely send kudos, as you know, and love to complain…and that’s just what you got in yesterday’s comments.
Don’t feel bad…we all like you and what you do.
    Chin up!

Great show Gary. Been thinking a lot about the show with the College Humor guys. I understand why you did it but I really liked todays program. It was authentic and delivered on the Wine Library promise. Yesterday’s episode was forced and very much like out of place. Don’t stop trying new things because that is how you keep things fresh. Just be ready to kill experiments that don’t work.

You became a web celeb by doing your thing. I work in the web world and love what you do but the worlds are very separate. It is kind of like a chef that cooks for a restaurant and also does a cooking show. You are using two very different skillsets to do both well. They are related but not as much as people might think.

Good Show; Maybe it was my computer, but the color shades kept on changing like it would in one of those early color TV sets when the picture tube was starting to go bad (And I mean old, like a circa 1968 RCA or Philco model). It made me think that you were in one of those old hotel rooms in a noir movie with a neon sign outside the window that would flash different colors.

any way; nice to see your take on wine shopping. It is sort of like browsing in a book store, only better.

Great show! I appreciate the efforts you make to tape from the road.

Not all the shows can be perfect, and I like that you’re trying new things and reaching out to new audiences. How much could I complain about a show that has consistently delivered so much fun and information about my new favorite facination, wine? Travel safely.

Gary. Nice show… Needed a recovery day after yesterdays episode. Will def try SUXX soon. And speaking of atomic bombs, what the hell were you watching on the tube? All of that blue flashing, looked like you were being abducted.
