line of the day – ‘ I would like to have pig snout and ears with this wine’

Love Gary in this episode; he rolled with the negative feedback of the ‘College humor’ episode beautifully. As he says, you have to try different things, some will work, some won’t. Glad to see that he isn’t going to dwell on it at all. Back to his incisive, funny, super ‘on point’ self. Picking the ‘Suxx’ wine a masterstroke.

Something I was thinking the other day related to the question of the day is that we rarely hear either Gary or Mott’s answer to it. It would be great if you could throw it into the show.

  • It’s so commendable that you do these shows even when on the road somewhere; and you happen to pick very good wines too. I thank you for this. We are so anxious and excited about the Thunder Cruise. We can’t wait to meet you!

I really enjoyed this. Great jump pumping out episodes on the road! The college humor guys were quite entertaining. I am not into this as an everyday thing, but thoroughly enjoyed the variety. Keep up the good work!

Nice job Gary – thanks for being so dedicated to us in the vaynernation! You still rock and bring the thunder! I like the one on one with you feel like I was in your room tasting along! Keep crushing it!

  • Gary,

Good show today. I’m gonna give Suxx a whirl. And way to respond to the comments from the last show. I thought it didnt’ quite fit the format either. Its really cool that you can go out and try something different with the guests, but BIG UPS to really listening to your community. Maybe a Vay-ner-chuk cameo in a College Humor skit would work better than another College Humor cameo on WLTV. Keep pumping out great stuff and bring back Kev Rose please – he was a great guest from the tech world that cared about the tastings.

    GV,

Glad to have the real thunder show back in action. I appreciate you spending your hard earned cash on the road to continue to provide WLTV content. Thanks!

  • Gary, thanks for a great show. It’s good sometimes to hear retail prices other the WL’s which are great. I feel like sometimes I get two wide ends of the pricing spectrum by reading Spectator and watching you. Price aside, top notch tasting as always. Thanks again and enjoy your traveling. Are you going to curtail it at all come (approx.) May 31?

I still need to watch yesterday’s, but today was just OK. A lot of yelling, not to be confused with passion.

    “Audacity of fruit”? What???

The Mollydooker Violinist is Verdelho, not Verdejo. Gary, you were correct in describing the Violinist as made from grapes associated with the island of Madiera — but that’s Verdelho, which is now being grown successfully in Australia. Verdejo, which comes from Spain’s Rueda region, renders aromatic, acidic, herbaceous wines that can age well but aren’t sweeet like Verdehlo.

Good episode. Ya I agree that I didn’t love the last one, but I’m also open minded and would be up for those kinds of shows once in a while

Way to be a consumer and way to pick three good ones. More than I am spending these days on wine but nice choices. Good format and travel safe.

Watched yesterdays after this one…and I have to say….even though I like the guys,,,that episode sucked…

I have not been impressed with the shows the last 3-4 weeks….something is missing….it feels like you don’t think you have to try anymore…it is like you have made your push to go viral and now are just “mailing it in” on your “Rep”

I used to tune in to every episode and watch it start to finish…lately I have not made it through to the finish….

It also seems you pander to only the folks who can buy from you….many of my friends (her in Washington…one of the states you can’t ship to) feel like you ignore us or leaves us out of the loop these days….I could care less(it is not an ego thing) but it is like you only care about the buck (even though you preach wine as a social thing)….most of these changes have come in the last 3-4 months…subtle at first then gaining (more and more as of late)…one of the more noticeable changes started with you jumping ship from Myspace(you don’t even update/add friends anymore) to the Facebook pages looking like any other celebs page that just feels fake and scripted….

I am still a big fan Gary as you helped me expand my palette and find a few new regions I had overlooked/ignored….BUT…it just feels like you are veering off the path that you were on for so long…it feels like you are less about the passion and more about the dollar….I hope I am wrong because I always watched for the passion of it( I can get a million guys vying for my buck Anywhere…)

    Gary,

Good show. Greatly appreciate your efforts to put out episodes while traveling. Interesting wines. Am intrigued by the Pleiades and the raspberry coated radish.

Even the best hitter in baseball only managed to hit the ball 40 percent of the time. He still needed to get in the box and swing the bat. I always hope the show is about the wine and the people who make it, get it to us, or enjoy it.

    Safe travels.

Awesome show! Enjoyed that you reviewed a Sean Thackrey wine. I recently saw an interview of him and thought he was very interesting. Here’s the interview of Sean Thackrey if anyone is interested.

Wow, giving props to Mollydooker AND to a fruit bomb? Quite a wild episode, must be the jet-lag? Fun to hear that you’re stuck trolling the retail shelves for wine just like the rest of us.

Speaking of which, just got a couple of big boxes via fedex from the clearance sale. Thanks for the fast shipping!

Hi Gary, I like those on-the-road wine tastings because I’m a on-the-road guy, too. The colors of the TV gave a nice impression, it just spiced the on-the road thing up. Something nice regarding on-the-road would be tasting any local typical drink, may it be alcoholic or non-alcoholic (ok alcoholic would be better, I totally agree with you).

I never thought I’d hear the word Mollydooker on this show again. Glad it showed up though. Waiting for the Carnival of Love.
I’m very enthusiastic about whites right now, so, glad to hear some good words about them.
I’m surprised that so many people had negative feelings about yesterday’s show. I thought that a good percentage of the people who watched were in that same age bracket. It would have been fun to have done palate training with them.

Solid show – love your commitment to all the Vayner-nation. I’m impressed by your opinion of the big Cali wines that held it together despite the big alc. Maybe next time, turn off the plasma TV so you aren’t changing color all the time?

I’m a longtime viewer and first-time poster. Guess you’d call me a lurker.

Loved today’s show! And I’m glad to hear you’ll be focusing on whites just as much as reds. My wife doesn’t like red wine at all. But she enjoys sparkling wines and sauvignon blanc. So I’m always on the lookout for new whites for her to try. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

  • Great show today. I have to admit I turned yesterday’s show off after about 3 mins…but like you said, when you’re doing one a day, there’s going to be some that not everyone loves.

I’m a huge fan of Thackrey’s Pleiades, but I usually find a lot more of a sweaty, leathery, barnyard component…maybe I haven’t tried this latest “vintage.”
I’ll keep my eyes open for the other two. Thanks!

Yo Gary! Don’t worry about yesterdays show man; it was their fault not your’s. Wine Library as a show and a store still rocks and always will do. As to anyone giving negative comments about anything they can all kiss my a** – this is about enjoying and sharing wine and breaking down any pretentions – that’s all. Keep it up Gary V!
