line of the day – ‘ I would like to have pig snout and ears with this wine’

Love Gary in this episode; he rolled with the negative feedback of the ‘College humor’ episode beautifully. As he says, you have to try different things, some will work, some won’t. Glad to see that he isn’t going to dwell on it at all. Back to his incisive, funny, super ‘on point’ self. Picking the ‘Suxx’ wine a masterstroke.

Yo Gary! Don’t worry about yesterdays show man; it was their fault not your’s. Wine Library as a show and a store still rocks and always will do. As to anyone giving negative comments about anything they can all kiss my a** – this is about enjoying and sharing wine and breaking down any pretentions – that’s all. Keep it up Gary V!

Gary – I didn’t think the humor was bad, but they didn’t know anything about wine so they added nothing to the show. Compare the College humor guys shows to Kevin Rose or the guy from Fox News who are not “experts” but they brought solid opinions to the program. Thanks for keeping them coming from th ehotel room, been in that spot many times.

  • Hey Gary,

Love the show, have you ever considered trying some Mead? I drink it a lot (I live in Scandinavia). If I find a postal address on your site somewhere I might send you a bottle of this nordic wine.

    Ex animo,
    – Alexander.

HI Gary, Superlative show today. Naples Kathy aka Champagne Lady p.s. Love the NYC shows like the one you did from Blue Ribbon Bar with the flight of champagne tasting….I’m just saying…nice to be shown where the out and about crowd is drinking.

  • My comment is…..

Why don’t you ever tell me when you’re going to LA…!!!!

I’d go in a NY minute.

I’m going to have to try that…..go to LA, get a room and open up 3 bottles of wine. Actually I’m heading out there next month to go to Lompoc. Maybe I’ll do the 3 bottle thing then…. What better place right…lol

  • Hi Gary –
Long-time watcher, first-time commenter (you asked for them!) My comment is regarding the CH episode as well. It wasn’t to my personal liking, but did spark an idea: Why not start a “train the pallet” series? Bring in a local in-experienced Vayniak 3-4 times a month, show them some new wines, new flavors, etc. and under your guidance let us watch how his/her pallet evolves. This would give us all hope that our pallets could be trained too!

Keep up the great work and sveikas!

  • Thanks for being humble enough to listen to our comments about the prior episode and to even go out an purchase a wine called SUXX….lol.

Hope you’re enjoying Vegas (feels like my second home town), there are restaurants there with amazing cellars and by far the most amazing (visually speaking) is the Wine Tower at Aureole at Mandalay Bay where “Wine Angles” are hoisted up to retrieve the various wines from the cellar. Those of you who haven’t seen it well worth checking out!

    Great show Gary.
Many of the other posts have had a similar message but I totally appreciate what you do. It takes time to make these episodes. Not everyone, including myself will enjoy them all but I’m sure we all applaud your efforts. You have taught me almost everything I know about the vino and have learned to trust your recommendations.
Unfortunately, last night’s episode brought out the worst in me, as well as most other Vayniac’s but the episode was just so awful.
Keep up the great work. Could not imagine my evening with no Thunder Show. It’s become a routine that I really like.
    Kudos Gary

  • I like Suxx just for its name :). Of course I’d be interested to try it out to see what I think of the wine as well, but right off the bat, I’m amused by the name :). Which I’m guessing was the marketing ploy all along…

And about that first wine, I have to ask: a partridge in a pear tree? ๐Ÿ™‚

    Gary,

Thanks for the quick response to the “never to be mentioned again” show from yesterday and popping out some interesting wine with great content. As we are learning the guests are great if they compliment the wine knowledge… but the wine content is key!

Now that you can do episodes anywhere (but not as good as with Mott) I double dare you to do an episode of in flight wines on the flight itself! But no cheating and going into the toilet…

I’m a first time commenter and a newbie to your show. I LOVE IT!! Great show today, I want to try Suxx and I probably wouldn’t of before your show. The name is a turn off.

Easter weekend my wine buddies are coming to town and I plan to turn them on to your show, watching and ‘playing’ The Thunder Show. I’m making up descriptive word cards now. Okay I know it might sound a little bit silly, but we will be the ones having fun!! Ciao! Pam

GV: A couple of random questions/thoughts…

1.) I’ve been contemplating purchasing a Flip Camcorder and since you have one (and you’re real tech savvy it must be pretty good) I’ll prob. get one

2.) I’ve been tasting wine a lot over the past years, but I can’t seem to taste the wine until I actually spit it out, swallow a little during tasting, or awkwardly breathe through my nose w/ the wine still in my mouth. What’s my problem…have you ever heard of this before?

Thanks for taking the time each day to do the show…I look forward to it everyday.

I’ve been curious to see if you’d do a Thackrey, so thanks. This show’s getting me craving wine (and vigorously expanding my palate) beyond my means, so I started brewing some honey wine (which is a really backwards choice, since it’s really expensive).

The months before it’s ready to taste are tough but creatively satisfying, and I wondered if you’ve ever made a wine, beer or liquor?

Gary. Remember Love and Hate = Passion. The opposite of love is not hate. The opposite of hate is not love. The opposite of love and hate is apathy. As long as you keep doin the show and we keep watching, then your doing your job. Keep it up.

    hey gary,

    first time commenter.
have been watching for about a month now.
i am new to the wine game, recently had my colon removed,
and the only alcohol i was allowed to have during recovery
was wine. never being a wine fan before, i took this as a
    test to start learning.

quickly my palate was drawn to pinot noirs then to syrah
and petit syrah and now am enjoying many of the spanish
    varietals like tempranillo and carmenere.

LOVED the Rosenblum Petit Syrah Heritage Clone 2006 you featured,
sadly a $20 bottle is not a day to day expenditure for me.

thank you for continuing to educate my wine knowledge and repping
    the new wines!

    come back to cleveland soon!

    go cavs!

    R.
