Stop talking with pizza in your mouth. I thought, oh this episode will be cool. Pizza, wine, what could be better? But really man, I had to stop because you kept talking with pizza in your mouth.

    Gary,

The Guest was a Bore! He may know pizza, but he doesn’t know PAIRING!
I also have to say Gary, That you forgot the underlining caption, “Gary Vaynerchuk tries some pizza and pairs three wines with pizza expert guest”. Now you only tired 1 wine with the pizza, (2005 Hewitson Miss Harry) the other 2 you just plain tasted and judged. WRONG!!!! As you have Preached to your viewers time after time is that “Food changes the complexity and taste of the wine” Now that 52 point wine could have been a 87 WITH the food.

Gary, that was a ROOKIE mistake, I expected more from you, Please hit the shower, re-think, re-focus and come back with a THUNDER!

I’m still a fan of yours, just focus, R.P Jr ONLY judges wine “WITHOUT” food which wines are made to go with food. So to judge without it, is like judging a quarterback as he is sitting on the sideline and not in the game.

  • Ok so. NOT ALL Dolphin fans are created equal GV! And you know that! And speaking of Dolphins, where was the Sarno love for the biggest Phins fan you know, this guy was NO fan?!!?!?!? ๐Ÿ™‚

Sorry man but this guy didn’t add any “value” to the show, would have been good to hear what he thought about pizza a little more since he was a “pizza expert”. You seemed very annoyed throughout the episode. Why the hell was he not drinking wine, he was on a wine show right?

QOTD: Love a good white pizza, but for toppings you GOTTA add in some bacon. However, my favorite is a plain cheese (yes GV, CHEESE) pizza with a little basil straight from Naples, Italy. BEST pizza in the world!

GV: A pizza without cheese, seriously?

Gary – vet your guests man! I was really excited for the show but learned nothing from it! I love the show and learn a lot from you (and sometimes your guests) but this dude sucked the life out of the show.

Lots of web site owners have things in common with you. Only a few have a POV that brings value to the show.

Topping – really good mushrooms (not those canned shrooms some pizza joints use.)

The guy’s a zero. He wouldn’t have you on his show (if he had one) if you didn’t eat pizza.

  • Not the most provoactive guest. But i love the idea of doing pairings shows. I am a Law student starting a wine club out on long island and pairings figure to be a big part of the club. I am looking for anyone either owning a liquor/wine store or is a distributor or is just big into wine out on long island or in the city who would be interested in couming to our wine tasing events as a patron. check out our mission statement on our blog at http://hofstralawwineclub.blogspot.com/ as well as to follow our tasing notes, to be up shortly (as we taste, we will post ratings and comments)! Any plugs you can give us gary would be amazing! Love the show and the info, plz keep doing what you do, and keep the content coming!

  • QOTD: Still never found a Pinot Grigio that I love. Strange but true. However, I do like Chenin’s like Gary went with.

QOTD: Mostly pepperoni. Just love it.

Not a good guest, therefore not a good show. Too bad. A pizza expert with at least some interest in wine could have made for a good show, as could an expert who had more to say about the pies and what makes them good or bad. Oh, well. Live and learn. I hope you find a better way to do a pizza-and-wine show somewhere down the line. It’s still a good topic that needs to be explored.

QOTD: Pepperoni and spicy sausage, with a good red wine that can stand up to them.

I was happy to learn that there is a website for pizza. I was born in NY and moved to Florida when I was 26. I couldn’t find a pizza place that was as good as NY pizza. It took alot of searching to find something decent. When I found this guy’s website I thought it was a great idea. It does take alot of guts to put up a website(worstpizza.com) on the internet that tells people that someones pizza sucks, and we all know there of tons of crappy pizza joints in Florida that think they make good pizza. This guy is a guy we all should thank for saving us time and money on crappy pizza. I like the fact that you guys did this show about pairing wine and pizza. I thought some of the comments were a little rough on you and your guest.I think it was a great show with a great guest that has a website that this world needs, much like yours Gary! Thanks again for the show and all of your wine expertise.

That guy sucks like Hoover. He’s the kind of guy you wanted to smack on the back of the head in high school because he was being a prick. Never again G-Man.

QOTD: Very classic parma pizza with fresh mozzarella base (plain sugo with no herbage), prosciutto and argula pres-dressed with a little olive and lemon. The acid of the lemon is the great character actor in the background you can’t forget.

  • When I hear people eating Domino’s and Papa John’s it is like Gary hearing Yellow Tail. Maybe we should set up a pizza crawl the next time I am in the area, and I will show you all what pizza a pizzaexpert eats. Once again, hard to discuss pizza when you aren’t given the chance. I tried time and time again to insert pizza into the discussion. Oh Well!

  • Gary, this guest is having the last laugh. His dry sense of humor seems unappreciated by the average Vayniac, who only responds to the blogging equivalent of car chases and fart jokes. And I would THINK that wine people should understand the art of subtlety.

    QOTD: Classic Pizza Margherita.

So what if this guest was not all flash and fanfare…variety is the spice of life. I particularly enjoyed seeing GV get half a slice of pie into his face after the cheese removal…we already knew he had a big mouth, but that was precious.

QOTD: I like pizza marinara the best…many places overdo the cheese, or use cheap stuff.

  • WTG Lapp… even on camera you have your boyish look. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thought you did good and for all those haters, they just dont know Lapp like we do. I will NEVER EVER eat PJ, Dominoes or Pizza hut again because Lapp has showed me the way back to phenomenal pizza. He’s one of the best guys I know and great sense of humor. I think its great he didnt want to step on Garys toes and take over. He truly is the pizza expert though. Love you man.

Its been a while since I’ve watched the shows. Loved the episode and now have to try the first wine. You are too funny Gary. It was a sad moment to see you take off the cheese but to each their own right. You dont like the cheese and Lapp doesnt drink the alcohol. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Crush it brotha…

PS… we have a winery here in South FL that makes avocado wine. its truly amazing. Went there yesterday. The dry one was my favorite. The sweet one was way to sweet. you should check them out. Schnebly. I want to know what you think of it.

Wow, I don’t get this episode. New viewer…but ….the guy doesn’t drink wine??? And the pizza pairing, how can you not drink and discuss which pairings work? Many wines pair well with pizza, but this segment left me flat….The white wine…you didn’t eat pizza with…how’s that pairing??
The Montepulciano..too bad that was a bad one cause some are..YUMMY with pizza ๐Ÿ™‚ Those Italians know what they’re doing.
“I’m getting wine” is his comment or “Manรกsevich” it must have been awful lol Don’t get this episode at all….You only ate pizza with the last wine….and no cheese??? Mamma mia….oh well….
would like to see someone who loves wine pair some with pizza (with cheese).
    But you’re great…this episode…not so much!

  • QOTD: My favourite topping is bacon strips. I LOOOOOVE BACON, and I know you do too Gary V.

I want to know the best wine that goes with Pickled Herring. Come on Gary, bust out the jar, sample some herring and find some thunder with the fish.

I find it odd you had a guest that didn’t drink wine with you. It would almost be like having you on his show and you didn’t try the pizza.
    Oh well.
Pizza without cheese?? Come on Gary!! What’s wring with you?!?!

Great show Gary…about time to feature a pizza oriented show! ๐Ÿ™‚ My girlfriend and I just moved into a new place and haven’t unpacked the kitchen yet. So how perfect is it that we saw this show and are going to do pizza and wine (the Shaya) tonight?!?!?

QOTD: Chicago’s Pizza, thin crust, tomatoes and green olives

    Hey Gary!

Kudos for a great and ‘gezellige’ (untranslatable dutch word for having a good time with nice people) show. Love the way you’re hanging around with your guests and simply enjoying each other’s company and great wines.

    Leaves me smiling. Thanks!

This guest was weird. I kind of missed the point of him beeing there.

QOTD 1: I had wine called Brumont. This was a blend of Merlot and Tannat and came from Gascony. Really good for it’s pricepoint of about 10 bones.

    QOTD 2: Pepperoni

  • i don’t think it gets any better than pizza and wine. a pretty darn close to perfect meal if you ask me. that said, was beyond psyched to see it as the topic of today’s wine library tv!

QOTD: throw the pizza dough on the grill, flip it after two minutes, add thinly sliced zucchini and white onion, close the grill for a minute, then add some grated mozzerella, and grated garlic and close for another minute till the cheese melts. top it with torn basil and mint and THAT is a seriously good pizza.
