Best moment is when Robert Parker says that we should be making wine more accessible and friendly and GV turns the camera on himself to capture a big smile and a wink. That was a real laugh out loud moment for me https://khosim.com/

QOTD: To be honest I have only been to small local wine tasting events (usually hosted by a winery). I have never been to anything as serious as what you are doing GV. I would like to try one though.

  • Didn’t watch the whole thing–so maybe you said something about this–but I didn’t know you had the “chops” from a “master of wine” standpoint to be in this type of event. I mean, I love your opinions, but that’s still what they are, right? These people aren’t just in it to sell books (although many of them DO sell books!)

  • Several Broadbent tastings in Chicago and New York. I have had back to 1945 and 1947 Bordeaux at these events.

Is it just me or does it seem like Bob’s phoning it in? I know it’s only a fraction of the tasting, but he didn’t say one insightful thing in that video. I would think he’d sound less like a shop clerk stumbling his way through explanations.

Also, thoughts on the contador? Had the white before and was impressed.

Really cool episode. Its hard for me to believe an agricultural product can last so long! Thanks for respecting us consumers enough to bring us behind the scenes at this special event.

QOTD: Tokaji tasting at the Vintners Hall in London, UK – mind blowing. Every wine was there from dry to excenzia. You should do a dry Tokaj show Gary, they are absolute class wines.

  • Was it exciting to sit behind Spanish Marv Albert?…YES!

QOTD:The best wine events I have ever been to are social ones where talking is encouraged, and it is more of an interaction environment versus a lecture.

Thanks for the peak behind the curtain Gary.

    QOTD; I did a Port tasting at Imperial College given by Harry Warre. We tasted the 1997, 1994, 1991, 1985, 1983, 1980, 1977, 1966, 1963 and the 1960.

My favourite was the 1983 although still too young. The 1977 was just coming out and tasted full of treacle and toffee.

The 1960 and 1966 looked light brown and faded while the 1963 was very bright with definite red fruit – strawberry and rasberry – still quite alive, a beautiful port. the 1990’s were extremely powerful, very closed and much too young.

    A truly great tasing.
