line of the day (to Mott) – ‘what did you watch last night…and don’t lie’

A few too many ‘in-jokes’ for me to get too pumped about this episode and a disappointing wine didn’t help

G, TThanks for the 2x shout ouTT. You made my day. Huge fan of the Chenin and particulary Francois Chidane. South Africa is also making some noise. How about a sparkling Chenin show?

QOTD: I'm going to have to go old school: Kahuna. Mainly due to his big-softiness…and his love for PV.

Thanks again for the shout outs. I really do appreciate all you and Chris and every involved at WL do for us. TT.

  • Kayla28

  • NY Pete

  • QOTD; I don't have a favorite.
Great show, sometimes our expectations get us.

  • JOEYdaMUSH

    QOTD: FRANCIS S.

  • My wife loves Chenin Blanc. I also enjoy it. A little hard to find at the grocery stores/wine merchants in our area sometimes. (West Coast) Because of the onslaught of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Riesling and Semillon. Do you find this to be the case on the East Coast?

  • stewartl

Bummed about the chenin blanc. I love chenin blanc and know the Clos Baudoin vineyard reputation. I actually have six bottles on the way. Hopefully I'll like it more than you did
Favorite commenter is probably Joe G- one of the most knowledgeable especially for Italian and French wines

  • NY Pete

    never … lol

  • I don't drink much of it but will try more of it! great show!

  • 🙂

  • you should give a shout out to all the customers who make purchases at the WL (local and not so local); just because they may not be so active leaving comments or are involved with other sister sites/forums don't mean they deserve less of a shout out. Internet fans do turn into patrons, and patrons should be welcomed regardless of whether they're lurkers or people who consistently leave comments. And don't ever rub your nipples in front of the camera again.

QOTD: NY Pete, cause I see his posts all over the place and that's the first alias that popped up in my head.

  • Allan

    LOL ; )

    I know… it’s not lookin’ pretty!

I just googled this cool real life popeye pic, ya know. Couldn’t resist. It’s a rubber…… boat LOL.

  • utahmormon

So I find myself living in Utah, surrounded by mormons, and discovering wine…. You, Sir, are a God send!!! I'm posting now then starting my “lifes work” aka watching all your past episodes. Please keep up the great work.. I'm already a fan..

p.s. I may be gushing because a cheap bottle of 2008 Alice White Shiraz caught me slipping… give it a review. I'd like to know your thoughts.

  • collegefootballisnumberone

It's Chidaine, like Shi-dane, like great dane. But it is fun watching you butcher French. I'm devastated too. One of those days where expectations got too high. Nowhere to go but down.

Have one of the staff slip one into the next blind tasting.

  • Pat__B

GV, Good reminder on the varietal. The ears always perk up when you say things like “this should be selling for $75.”

One idea for Cindy – how about doing a week of WLTV episode's that preview the varietal / region that will be put up on Cindy the next night? Sometimes I am tempted to buy, but don't feel like I know enough about the varietal/region despite the notes…

  • winegator

Tried the Icewine yesterday. It was incredible!!!

  • utahmormon

Gary forget about JoshL… Keep up the Nipple Rubbing!!! It only makes the wine taste better….

  • get are you really from utah? do you know when park city closes for the season? trying to do one more skiing trip before the season ends. thanks.

  • winegator

QOTD – Definitely the Big Kahuna

  • BuddhaChu

LBFC sighting! Nice to see the Laid Back Friday Couch still exists and is still in the office. Too bad it's never used anymore.

QOTD: I don't read the comments so I wouldn't know. I drive-by post a comment on episodes and leave.

  • BuddhaChu

Correction: I actually read Vay-ku's comment from the Cop episode (puny arms!) and for this episode. So I guess he/she is my “favorite”.

  • GV. Totally agree about the chenin blancs. I think the character, depth and personsonality of the grape far out weights anything Pinot will ever be. A good Vouvray and raw oysters is a kick ass combo.

QOTD: Me! Yah, I'm like that.

  • Bredsun

    QOTD – Current – Me
All time – hard to say…I find when I read the comments someone new intrigues me every time.
I think I might need to get on this Chenin Blanc train…I have never had one.

  • Michael D

    Gary,

I don't have a favorite WLTV commenter, because several people have posted great comments at one time or another.

  • Anonymous

My buddy photoshopped me with Sean/Bond, that is.

  • Anonymous

    I’ve been hoodwinked again.

  • It's Been ages since we've had a Chenin Blanc, guess it is time to buy more and drink them.

QOTD: Probably a tie between, Kahuna and Murso for all time commenters (…followed by me, I leave comments on every episode.)

  • rhonedrinker

I changed my name – Terroririst to you simple ass was WOW TOO much i am Rhonedrinker.

I need an Omaha Nebraska Wine Group.
I need to be on the show.

  • rhonedrinker

    Steen to S.A
    I love chenin blanc

  • bethiflorist

Thanks for sharing the 2007 Loire Valley Chenin Blanc Tasting ? Episode #828. I enjoyed watching it. Keep on posting. http://www.colonialgifts.co.uk/c-380-christmas-

  • Anonymous

    That would explain a lot!

  • ErieWineGuy

    Another wonderful show.

I remember my first Vouvray – I almost didn't make it through the bottle because I thought it was too sweet. My early palate was made up of all dry wines.

Now, a lot because of your show, I have tried off-dry and sweeter wines and now thoroughly enjoy and include them in my wine tasting enjoyment.

Now to try another Vouvray or other Chenin Blanc! Thanks for the nudge in that direction.

QOTD: Until now I have only glanced at the other comments, so I don't have any specific favorites, but now I am reading comments with greater intensity and interest – we'll see!

Thanks again. As I have said before, the highlight to the end of my day, is to sit down before bed, have my glass or glasses of wine, taste and watch your show. Life is good.

  • Cool_Dave

    Hey Everybody!!
Strange you doing a Chenin Blanc. I just bought a Domaine des Aubuisieres Vouvray.
    Small world.
    QOTD– NYPETE

  • MOTT: Good to hear you saw District 9. I liked it a lot.
I just saw Big Fan on DVD the other night, about the obsessive NY Giants fan.
    Seen it? http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1213684-big_fan/
    I assume you've read Frederick Exley's “A Fan's Notes” (also about a NY Giants fan) –
    it's an all-time classic novel.

  • QOTD: Mom's Buehler

  • GV I love the Chenin Blanc – was drinking a lot of them together with Pinot Grigio while in Oxford, UK. But getting less of these types now back in South Australia.

QOTD: Sorry, I am a little too new to this for favourites yet – but I am glad to see some conversations happening now – good for the community. I will need to get here more regularly now this is happening.
