I have a Sniffy Sniff wrist band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And proud of it.

  • Wine Dada

Thanks for review on the '08 Terrasses. The '07 was my 'buy' of the past year. The '08 sounds a little different in style – how would you compare the two?

  • Green_Pea

GV, Beaujolais is where I started. The first bottle of wine I bought was a Georges Duboeuf Moulin A Vent. I have always thought of Moulin A Vent as the King of Beaujolais and Fleurie as the Queen. Over the years I have introduced many people to the Gamay grape. Glad to see it make an appearance on the thunder show.

  • mattgmann

    love cheap cab

  • Wine Dada

The 'sommelier's lump of coal' gave me my best laugh of the day, I woke up the dog. I've been to the Boston R-C and agree.

  • mattgmann

I didn't have the 07. I can give you a little more on the 08 though. Like I said, floral nose over a rich peppery anise background with some distinct earthiness/barnyardiness. I really appreciated the nose on the wine. As far as taste, red fruit up front with some of the same nose characteristics. Slightly thin in the middle, and a very nice finish. Tannins were well balanced with the acidity. I was surprised how much the wine opened up in just an hour or so. I really had no expectations as the last half dozen or so ventouxs I've had have been meh. This was a delight though and 89-90 for me. I think it cost ~$17.

QOTD: Not my biggest disappointment but my son's. On Friday night he hit his first little league home run ever!! Pow! Over the fence. But Saturday he had a disappointing showing. Hit by a pitch and forced to take his base……twice in one game. The second time barely hit him and he wanted to stay and hit but the ump made him take a base. waddayagonnadoaboutit At least he hit a single in that game as well.

We had 2008 Domaine Georges Trichard Saint-Amour for thanksgiving.

    BBQ and wine was disappointing?

Well….I suppose pretty much all bbq north of Memphis is disappointing.

  • mattgmann

    this guy is curious<

  • jaybloxham

No, it was great as a matter of fact. I just did the QOTD backwards

  • jaybloxham

    wow, big meal?

  • DCaragher

GV – I have to admit, I really need to give Gamay more of a chance! I am always bashing it and haven't quite found a gamay I really can say I like! However, I did recently have a pinot noir/gamay blend that I was blown away by…Famille Laurent Saint Pourcain 2007! Good show man…keep your head up!

QOTD – Camping this weekend was a bit of a let down…

  • guymandude

Nice job on another pump and dump.
    qotd; Open house

  • gman802

    Classic. Poor Ian.

  • johnyhamm

Too bad on the moulin a vent. I was also hoping it would kill. Oh well.

QOTD: that it rained here in Iowa and I couldn't mow my lawn. Weird I know but it's screaming for a good mowing.

  • A dumb Rhein king

    SQOTD: Nope 🙁

QOTD: Bottled my first wine, made from the Frontenac grape. It doesn't last very long in the glass before it falls apart. Oh well, there were plenty of mistakes to learn from, so next year will be much better. The cool thing about the wine is that I ended up with a flavor profile close to Nero D'Avola.

  • A dumb Rhein king

    That's what she said.

    (sorry couldn't help myself)

  • A dumb Rhein king

    That funky monkey.

  • lordsauvignon

Keep the air quotes, screw it, its natural you.
    A dead wine…thats a new one.
QOTD1: No, I unfortunately do not have a sniffy sniff wrist band. Want to send me one?
QOTD2: That I didn't take the time to go throw a baseball around with my wife.

  • lordsauvignon

    Sounds like and awesome meal

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    Damnit, Ian! Haha!

Another great show, Gary! I was estatic at how you rated the Moulin A Vent. When you said, “This wine pisses me off”, I rolled! What also sucked, was that the last wine was D-E-D, dead…lol. I should be getting the Vayniac 2pk tomorrow and cant wait to see what wristband I got.

QOTD: I was dissapointed that the Penguins could not close it out in the 3rd period. But what do i have to complain about….we're on to the next round!

    Big ups to Sheik!!!

  • WineWoman

    Yes, I have a sniffy-sniff wrist band.

QOTD: Sunday's rain and the Yankee's loss.

  • lordsauvignon

    Sounds like it was fun!

  • jlilley

Question of the Day: My biggest disappointment was the Seattle Sounders lose to Toronto FC yesterday. There is no reason the Sounders shouldn't have won that game!

  • slimdogny

I really dig the honesty about the wines. If you indeed did pull the wine from the shelf, I salute you. That will show the non-believers about how true people can be and that this is not a sales platform. Although, loved the 3 pack 2 weeks ago…waiting to drink some of that…

QOTD1 – No wristband. Very sad. Crying.
QOTD2 – I had a rocking weekend. Great people, awesome food, good wines, good relaxation. Only thing that disappointed was that it ended.

  • JiminAtlanta

I like beaujolais a lot, maybe because I like pinot and other lighter wines. I am wearing my GV sniffy sniff wristband! QOTD – I was in Chicago this weekend visiting my niece and nephew and I was disappointed that they spent most of the time on their computers.

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

Haven't bought any Beaujolais in Yeeeeeeaaaaaaarszzz & after watchin' this EP,
it'll probably be Mooooorrrrre Yeeeaaars before i do………..

qotd: Me Lakers got STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMPPED in Game 4 !!!!!!!!!

  • robrx

    QOTD #1- I have 2 wrist bands, but no sniffy-sniff : (

    QOTD #2- Javier Vasquez's pitching

  • laurieinvt

    side QOTD: yes, indeed!
QOTD: It seems there was a moratorium on new disappointments this weekend at our house. I am happy about this.
An interesting show today, in spite of the wines!

  • jaybloxham

It was, thanks. Anytime with my wife, wine, and good food is a good time. I'm sure most would agree.

  • 920albert

I missed the chance to buy a compact tractor that I have been waiting to buy for over one year.

  • qotd 1: I don't have the sniffy sniff wristband, only the newer green one. Wish I did though, I'd chug a bottle of the moulin a vent for it, or even the dead wine..
qotd 2: My weekend rocked. I don't believe in allowing disappointment to enter the weekend. I found a hidden little urban winery near my house (downtown Sacramento) that does $2 glasses of wine for happy hour, even on the weekend!

  • kosmik

    QOTD : After a cool-wine-for-the-price 2007 Piccio from Podere Castorani, I've tried the 2008 : awful.

  • DAveAll

Blah blah blah on picks and NFL and stuff. Oh, I liked the Shiek and wrestling discussions.
Good info on Gamay – I learned. amazing that Pinot Noir and Gamay both are thin in color – yet so different. I'm seeking Gamay!
I have one sniffy snif band. After getting all but 2 of your secret packs, I did get that one. (neighbors bought the other two, so i've had them all).

where does “pulled wine” go? do you sell it to Seven 11 for discount? or does the staff have a party and drink? or does it go back to the winery? I'm curious… where?

Biggest disappointment: That it was only a 2 day weekend – whazzupwitdat?

  • QOTD; I would rather look to the bright side of life. That being said the Red Wings didn't close out the first round Sunday. Which will lead to the joy of watching a game 7 Tuesday.
    Love the Fleurie.

  • DAveAll

That's the fun of making wine, some are not and some are GR8! Keep working it. I love that i am making wine and millions have been for thousands of years. no big deal.

  • rick redekop

biggest disappointment was of all the wines I tasted at the Vancouver wine festival only one stood out for me. It was a Malbec from the Los Andes Mountains

  • First time comment although I started watching pre 100's. So needless to say Loooong time lurker, just want to say I love the video's they are as good as they every were. Anyway I have nothing great to say or ask, but my guess is this is one of the largest points of anxiety for lurkers. Hopefully this will encourage some of them to break out.

  • cellarrat5

The Office has invaded our colloquialisms and our speech. At least its a decent show, and its not “hey HEY hey”, I die a little inside whenever I hear that.

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, da
RIP VAN WINKLE LURKER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o)

  • cellarrat5

he couldn't do anything about it, gotta shake that off. Too bad though, after his first HR.

  • cellarrat5

I drink Brass Monkey and I rock well
    I got a Castle in Brooklyn – that's where I dwell

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

Yo Ray, Ya make that Vino Yet ???????? :O)

  • cellarrat5

Nice show, not too familiar with Gamay. I have tried a few Beaujolais, and they were ok. Did not melt my face, however. Good luck trying to climb that Stair Master GV, you might not go anywhere.

QOTD 1: no, I do not have the coveted “sniffy sniff (TM Gary Vaynerchuk incorporated)” wrist band.

QOTD 2: The poker game I played in on Friday night lasted forever, and I only won my buy back. I wanted to throttle most of the people at the table.

  • woh, just saw iron sheik's twitter page….the dude loves the f word…..

  • cellarrat5

    YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

    NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW !!!!!!!!????!!!!!! :O)

  • waynoooo daaaaa winoooo

    cellarrat iiiiiiiinnnn daaaaaaa HOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    :O)

  • Beaujolais has been in our cellar always, in different flavors, but has always been enjoyed around here.

QOTD: My biggest disappointment last week was not having enough people around to eat some pancakes I made on Saturday, I followed a recipe from a new show called foodmob and I only ate 3 of the 12. they're still in the fridge but suspect they're not fresh anymore.
