    Mate!

I’ve been addicted to it since visiting patagonia. I can no longer get my favorite brand (Triunfo) though. Apparently no one is importing it anymore.

  • Some top choices there (though I’m not sure Terrazas is the best we have to offer). I would like to take more time to pick them out, but there would probably need to be an Achaval Ferrer in there, perhaps also a Patron Santiago, a Vistalba (Corte A or Corte B)… I’ll think about it.

2004 Montiano from Falesco = Good strucured wine with lashings of dark forrest fruits mingling with drak chocolate & liquorice. On the pal it’s smoooooooth as a baby’s behind. 100 % Merlot from Italy. My prediction is that will drink nicely for yet another 10-15 years. Nice going Riccardo Cotarella, you are The Master.

Has anybody seen the great GV? Is he dusting off the couch???? πŸ™‚

I don’t doubt for a second that there are very good wines in Argentina. What shows up here, for the most part, are the errr…. stylistically challenged wines I complain about.

I think a big prob with the Argentine wines we get is that they are outsourced wines designed and payed for by Americans with bigger pocketbooks and egos than knowledge or taste.

Perhaps the better wines from Argentina are in another price bracket that I’ve not tested. At the price point I normally associate with Argentinian wines, I can easily get better wines from France and Spain. At higher price points, I tend to buy what I know I like, and most are from France or USA.

Please, give a few suggestions on <$20 Argentinian wines that are the read deal. Like I said earlier, I just don't have the time/money/will to wade through the mediocrity to find the gems.

  • Gary soo, soo, sorry about your j – e – t- s- jets jets jets! NOT!! Ha! But I do miss talking wine . I’ll be back soon! keep on doing the swirl!

Interesting show. I wonder if your palate is swinging back away from the big wines. For awhile it seemed that you were liking them a bit more once again, but this show would indicate otherwise.
