QOTD: Mt. Rosa Pinot Noir from Cen Otago… not 100% sure you recommended this exact producer but your raves about Otago opened my senses to this great region

We have to do a once around the LIB and talk with everyone!

  • That is so crazy that you brought up that Cougar Crest… That was the wine that turned me onto this show. I got that bottle at a crazy discount so I was just cruising the internet to see if I could find anything out about it. Then I stumbled upon this show…

    Crazy how that all works.

  • Completely with you on the Saint Jean Du Barroux. Killer wine.

  • Wardo

QOTD: 2004 Domaine du Pegau Châteauneuf-du-Pape…you gave it a 94 point score, so I had to see what it was about. I’ve had it twice now (tasted in 2 different years) and this wine/producer still blows me away. One of the most luscious, regal CDPs out there. I still reach for Pegau on special occasions and seeing your enthusiasm and awestruck reaction to it on the show helped justify taking a chance with the price point.

QOTD: I have had very few of the wines you’ve scored well, but I hosted a garnacha tasting about a month ago with all of them being under $20. We had the Las Rocas that you gave 90 points to. It was the standout winner.

Gary, Gary, Gary, you did it again. This wasn’t a completely awful show, but you did wines from France (which a lot of people know nothing about) and you gave very little info about them or the region. I know you’ve gone over this before, but another 60-90 seconds of background info would have done this show wonders!

I know you’re busy as heck so it’s all good my dude. Thanks for the offering. It really is appreciated.

    Yours,

    B.S.

  • QOTD: Lopez de Heredia Rose. One of the best wines I’ve had based on the show. Great episode. Very informative!

QOTD – I probably would have never tried Bandol if it we not for the Thunder Show. Specifically Domaine Tempier. Which opened up my palate and mind to a whole new level. That is just the first one that comes to mind that was pretty significant. That was a while back.. There have been others. I opened up more to trying different white wines in general also. Radool~!

  • QOTD: Chateau Pichon-Loungeville Comtesse de Lalande 2001
    http://tv.winelibrary.com/2007/08/27/wines-from-pauillac-bordeaux-most-important-wines-episode-301/
    Taking no prisoners 😀

  • Nice work, do you hog the comp at home?

  • GV,
    Thx for the show.

    QOTD:
Try many wines based on the show and loved many but the Brice Jones Pinot was one of my favorites. The Wine was good but knowing and sharing his story with others while sipping his Pinot is GREAT!

  • Get that, the Pegau is often an immaculate CdP

  • Grill Factor

Awesome show – love the Sancerre, just love it.

QOTD: It’s a tie between two very different wines both given a personal score of 94:

    Potel-Aviron Moulin A Vent vv 2005
    http://tv.winelibrary.com/2008/11/11/a-mixed-bag-of-wine-alsace-beaujolais-and-the-rhone-valley-episode-575/

    http://tv.winelibrary.com/2009/03/09/2-ruedas-and-a-montepulciano-episode-639/

  • QOTD: Wow, another tough question of the day. I’m going to go with what popped into my head first and that’s the 2006 Breggo Pinot Noir. There’s probably something more spectacular, but that one was excellent.

  • QOTD: Best wine was 1996 Legras St Vincent Champagne, truly amazing, I bought a bottle for my WSET Tutor who got me my interview for my job in the wine business as well.

Gary, I would love it if you do a show on Sauvignon blanc in the Loire that’s not Sancerre, we rarely see you taste pouilly Fume, even less Touraine Sauvignon and never (ever) have I seen a Quincy on WLTV!!!!!! if this show makes it past a 1000 please make it happen 🙂

  • Alexandre-CF

Hey Gary, needing some sleep??haha just jocking.

QOTD:was so many, but the best recent was the 2009 Marcel Lapierre Morgon that i had yesterday.
Also Lopez de heredia wines, great stuff.

Thanks for the continuing education, just learned Sancerre is Sauvignon Blanc! Can’t wait to try.
Qotd: As of late, The Guilian Barbera from Accornero 🙂

  • I can see it now, laid back Friday with something silly like a 200 year old Maderia in a massively oversized football shirt and then having a game of hackey sack with robert parker, something like that anyway, I think it would be quite fitting.

  • Gary, the PERFECT way to launch episode #1,000 is to advertise at movie theaters right before the film starts. Imagine all these less tech savvy wine drinkers getting ready for a film and their faces are rocked off when you pop up on the screen and shout, “HELLO EVERYBODY AND WELCOME TO WINE LIBRARY TV!!!”

Do it. You just gotta do it.

  • ALLAN

Not at all, I’m really just in the right place at the right time, simple as that. That’s my secret. I don’t even recieve e-mails about it.

QOTD: Most recently, I would have to agree with a few other comments… ‘the Amavi ’07 Washington state’….. Big Cab for the price. Epsisode #922

  • QOTD: Sojourn Cellars Cab & Pinot… still the winery that “did it” for me.

    http://tv.winelibrary.com/2007/11/27/gary-is-tired-from-a-day-of-tasting-140-wines/

We LOVE Sojourn. Just ordered another case coming next week 🙂

QOTD: Sometimes it’s tough for me to find some of the stuff that you’re tasting because we aren’t in the same market but I would have to say:

Goretti Le Mura Saracene Sagrantino di Montefalco

I loved this wine and found it after seeing it on the show. Thanks for all the Thunder, Gary.

QOTD: Being in Tennessee it’s been hard to find many of the wines you like, but one of the top ones would be the Amavi ’07 cab. Love, love, love it and it’s a great value!

I would have to say half my cellar is filled with cases from the Wine Library, Gary. And I would say half my income has GONE to the Wine Library!!!!

  • QoTd: Chenin Blanc

  • NY Pete

    hey hey

  • Leatherpalate

Gary you’ve turned me on to a ton of juice but I would say that getting me on the Cayuse list was heads and shoulders above everything else. That stuff is just redunkyoulous!

Hmmmm, when was this taped? Shirt looks familiar. Lol!

QOTD: It was probably the Clio many years back.

That was a good one too. Glad I have two left.

  • supertrirunner

Well I have had alot of amazing wines that you also happened to have had on the show but I would count those. That was just a re-affirmation of what I already thought.

But you have given me some amazing finds like the 2001 Kuleto cab, the Black and Blue, and a couple of Cdp’s can’t remember right now

    Thanks Gary!!!

It’s kind of funny. I bought 6 of these from WL and was really disappointed in the first one. I ship my sister a cxase around the holidays every year and I included one in the case for4 her to have when my New York brother was visiting. They LOVED it so maybe mine was just an off bottle.

  • QOTD: the best wine that I’ve bought based on your recommendation is the Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne, after I learned that you could find it at Costco, I went out and bought a couple of bottles and I’ve been using it for mimosas ever since.

    995… getting there, G.V

GV, as you always say it is the passion of WLTV. It rocks the hizzy!!! Looking back over your body of work on WLTV approaching the millenium…the commitment is just superb!
QoTD: the southern Italians, (ignored by many) new to me until GV and WLTV. We taste tested 6 good Primitivos for the price of a NYC haircut.

  • NJ Big Chris

QOTD: You have turned me on to so many things I wouldn’t have tried otherwise but the best individual bottle was a Clos Leglise Pomerol 2004.

  • Anonymous

Uhh, check your math folks… Maybe 999 on the coach.

  • Anonymous

Yeah man, those were the good old days. “Insect blood”, “febreze on the first day of spring”. Classic GV.

How the hell did I miss that one?

How the hell deid I miss that one?

    $7-8 wine.

  • ToddT

QOTD: You have had tremendous impact on my approach to the wine world Gary, thank you! I usually go after varietal or region suggestions rather that exact bottles, but the first that comes to mind is the Jose Dhondt blanc de blancs as well as the 2000 Lopez de Heredia Vina Gravonia, both so good!

  • LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE Sancerre til the end of time.
My favorite white wine when done right for 20-30$.
QOTD: 2001 Prado Enea Muga, now you had this wine not long ago but did not recommend it, I think you gave it a 92 though but because of the 50$ price, you did not recommend it, now because of my love for Rioja and my falling in love with wine with a ’94 Prado Enea, I had to have this one. Should’ve waited maybe 2-3 more years before drinking it but was wonderfull to me.

Thx for all Gary, I am getting nostalgic as well actually.
