EP 996 Tasting with the Vayniacs: Part 1

Leading up to episode 1,000, Gary Vaynerchuk decided to invite several of the top WLTV forum contributors to join him for shows. Tooch, Metsfan, Paul, and Calicab teamed up on this episode and picked a wine of their choosing to taste with Gary. This is the first of four shows with the Vayniacs from the WLTV forums.

    QotD1 — nah, they won’t get to 100 wins. Not enough offensive depth But who cares? That’s a team built for the playoffs anyway.
    QotD2 — The Mets will lose 89 games.
    QotD3 — All of them. Not enough money and no hand to guide me where I’m living right now.
    QotD4 — I’d have to think that Australia will bounce back. The seeds for a comeback are likely already bearing fruit. Look to the small producers, the ones concerned with expressing the land.

    QOTD 4: I have not had enough Aussie wine to say either way, some has been gloppy over oaked over ripe, but some have been soooo great (The Dead Arm)

  • forums, yeah right I have tried to get on for two and a half years but it seems impossible, just because I slipped at the age question…..I’m 50 dudes!!!! And NO, I’m not willing to use another mail adress.
    And on the 8th of march, International womens day, there is ..ZERO female invites(but I saw KMurph at Garys computer), really bad, really! Wine a man’s game when we talk about points, review, and more, thats obvius. That should get all wine peeps to think a bit….

    Malbec is totally “hurt” in my eyes. The amount of pure crap Malbec in the <$20 range, and the over extracted crap that doesn't even taste like wine in the $20-$30 range coming out of Argentina is amazing. Yo Argentina! Get your shit together!

    Australia is back. I have been in Sydney for the last 3 years and have been having some amazing wine at reasonable price points. The GFC has really brought things down to earth here I think. I’ve been drinking lots of stuff that was meant for the export market that never made it out of oz. Bargain basement prices for a lot of world class wine…

    Great show…it would kind of be nice to see them all back to back…to see how everything progresses. I’m shocked there was no whites of sparklers…

    Gary, where are the women? It’s hard for me to believe that there are no women in the top 50. In our wine club, we women are the wine lovers, the guys are along for the ride. Regardless, this was a great show and I look forward to your tastings with some of the other Vayniaks. I don’t have an answer to the first two QsOTD, but for #3 more Malbec, actually, haven’t had one in a while and 4) sure, everything comes back, including Australia. Life is cyclable, and so is wine.
