If one believes in Bio-Rhythms, then you were on a triple positive today, Gar’ – causing your infectious enthusiasm — giving you one of those days where nothing – NOTHING – can get you down!

QOTD: Too many to list, so I’ll go with a personal fave: watching my son transform himself from a whiny, self-pitying slacker into a take-charge, upbeat master of his own destiny, loved and respected by one and all. We gave him guidance, but he did it himself.

Have a great weekend, Gar’ – and you are so right: God Bless America The Beautiful!

QOTD: my ten month-old daughter… she just started crawling this week. To think that only ten months ago she was this wrinkled up little screaming baby being dropped into my shaking arms (my wife was flat out on an operating table) and now has so much personality is absolutely flooring.

Oh, and GV – if Mr. and Mrs. V would have had you a day earlier we would have entered this world on the same day, same year!

I’ve got a better QOTD…. Where’s the Michigan wines you talked about last Friday? I was so looking forward to seeing some local (for me anyways) wines on the show. Oh well, better luck next time…

QOTD: My mother learning how to use a computer. Even more- watching my brother’s kids growing up to be the most gorgeous human beings I’ve ever seen.

Hey Gary, How about trying some Alban Viognier and Syrah next to some northern Rhone wines? How do you think our rhone ranger friends are doing?
QOTD – My wife, every day she’s more amazing!

I got to taste a 2005 Cote du Beaune a couple weeks back and I found, that like the bordeaux you tasted, that it was also extremely tight. I had another pretty interesting experience last night when I was at Moore Brothers and got to re-taste an ’03 Oliver Rion Cote De Nuits Villages that I first tasted close to a year ago when the first got it in, and there was actually a pretty noticeable difference even in the 9 or 10 months since I last tried it.

QOTD: Last weekend I was down by the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn for the first time in about 2 years, and all I can say is, “Wow!” I could never logically advocate the preservation of the derelict, crumbling industrial sites down there, but seeing the wholesale leveling of the waterfront from the sugar refinery almost all the way to the grain terminal was kind of a shock.

  • QOTD: Watching the Colts transform from The Dolts and the doormats of the NFL to the powerhouse they are today.

Great show but taking your lead, life is too short to sit around waiting for over-the-top tannic bombs to come to fruition (good pun eh?) 10 years down the road. I’ll pay the extra bones to taste an older Bordeaux now ’cause who knows what happens in the next 10 years. Dag, we could have a woman President by then and who knows ….. 🙂

    TGIF

Off to drink some good wine.

    Cheers and more cheers!!!!!

The biggest transformation that I have witnessed must be Michael Jacksons appearance.
