Short but sweet show. The drink looks delicious.

To answer the question of the day: NO. Unfortunately I’ve not had a Lambrusco, but now I want to try it. It looks great.

Keep bringin’ new stuff to the table!

    Chicken goes nice…salad so nice…

?OTD – I never have had one. That color was very popsiclesque.

QOTD: Yep. Last summer at a BBQ. I didn’t care for that particular one (can’t remember the brand, but it was sweet). I do like prosecco though, so will give it a few more tries

  • I will put a self imposed ban on Canei (yes, you can..and they did make a Lambrusco)and Cella (Chill a Cella) to take them out of the equation as well for the purpose of the QOTD.

My answer is still yes and recently but they were all of the sweet and horrific variety. I have never had a sec or demi-sec but am looking forward to trying one.

QOTD: Being a CKC in the late sixties we didn’t know there were different Lambrusco’s. 🙂

  • Yes. There’s a great wine bar in Park Slope call “Total” and they’ve had a Lambrusco on the menu. Gotta respect the Riuniti!

QOTD: the answer is no; because I live in the LCB challenged state of Penna
and the only label offered 35 years ago when i drank it was Riunite

i like the short focused show

and how about them STEELERS? 6 rings baby
actually, I am an Eagles fan, but my son in law lives and dies with the Steelers

  • Loved Lambrusco on the patio on the summer slightly chilled LCBO had Chiarli Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro . Cheaper than the Sorbara or Salamino. Introducedto its taste in the 70’s in university. Wonderful choice Gary and great memories of days past.

  • As someone else alluded to, a very nice, short and sweet show. Whether I get my G-Man “fix” with 20 mins or 8, it works for me.

Gorrrrgeous label and color. Wow. Gotta have some of this stuff.

QOTD: Besides Riunite? Nope but will now.

Down on the Squealers. SB was poorly played by mediocre teams.

    Cheers!

Yes, had a Lambrusco at a small Italian restaurant in Paso Robles. I don’t remember the name but the cork was held in place with a string wrapped over the top and around the neck. Very cool. This particular one was ripe berry fruit and a bone dry finish. Really good.

Well Thank You GV! I’m one of the four who’s been blowin up the site
about Lambrusco (ordered half a case from you last year). HUGE ‘brusco fan.
As far as I’m concerned the ultimate pizza wine.

PS – Think Lambic from Belgium when you’re thinking of the beer/lambrusco
    connection.

QOTD: Have I? Many many kinds. My “pal” leans towards the grasparossa
clone which brings alot more finese to the grape.

I drank Reunite 30 years ago and it was ok, but I decided to try another about 6 months ago – Reggiano (LeGrotte) from Trader Joes @ ~$5 and only 8.5% alcohol! I was quite impressed. All the fun fruit and bubbles of the old Reunite, but then a nice dry flavorful finish. non vintage. I now bought a bottle of “Grasparossa di Castelvetro” 2007 11.5% for $8.99 which I will try soon. Just need the right occasion for these wines…

  • Phil (marty6001)

Thanks for the tip on this wine. I think my wife will love the color, and she is really into the more fruity wines.. This may be a play for us..

QOTD: I never even had Riunite (nor can I spell it).. I do remember the commericals though.. YIKES!!

QOTD: I think I’ve had Riunite at some point in my life, but doubt I’ve had another Lambrusco. I’m going to go buy one, though :-).

I like the episodes when you just talk about one wine, particularly if it’s a sort I don’t know a lot about already, like this one.

QOTD: No, but I bet it would taste good with a hint of Campari (is that a mortal sin to alter the original subject manner?) Mott would do it!

Never had a Lambrusco before (never even heard of the varietal), but I will definitely try one now that I’ve seen this episode. Thanks Gary!

QOTD – Nope, but my husband will LOVE this!

Interestingly, my girlfriend emailed me this morning reminding me of how we used to order Riunite Lambrusco on the rocks at our local watering hole in college. Yikes.
